Big Blues football

With a 21-game winning streak, the Bluefield football team had back-to-back undefeated seasons in 1927 and 1928, culminating in two national championships. At the time, Bluefield enrolled only about 100 male students, so teams often had fewer than 30 men. The "Big Blues," so named for the way that they moved down the field like a wave, may have been small—but they were mighty.
